max_fps not actual frame rate
There's a difference with maxfps and the framerate your actually getting.
I run the game fullscreen and thought I was getting good framerates by looking at the cg_drawFPS, until I realized that my monitor was getting set to 60hz when going full screen.. so really I was only getting 60fps.
So find out the max refresh rate of your monitor, and set r_displayrefresh ### to it
I use
com_maxfps "125"// Maximum frames rendered per second.
r_displayrefresh "75" // Controls the monitor's refresh rate
I have to set mine to 75 which is my LCD maximum
if your monitor can handle it, set both to the maximum
if you run under windowed mode, then I guess the maximum refresh rate will be that of your desktop
hopefully you'll see a real difference
